This year, Jesse Lacey & Co. landed a rather difficult timeslot, playing directly before Bon Jovi. But instead of trying to pander to the audience, the band delivered a fiery, powerful set comprised primarily of material off 2006’s The Devil And God Are Raging Inside Me, including the set-opening “Welcome To Bangkok,” “Sowing Season (Yeah),” “Millstone,” “The Archers Bows Have Broken,” “Jesus Christ,” “Degausser” […] and the set-closing “You Won’t Know,” which ended in a cacophony of sound, with Lacey screaming the song’s title at the first few rows of Bon Jovi fans while his bandmates thoroughly trashed their gear. Brand New’s set was uncompromising in its drive, intensity and passion—and for that, we award it the Best Set of the Bamboozle.
